Central Massachusetts Cancer Center Earns Prestigious Accreditation

June 16, 2014

SOUTHBRIDGE, Mass. – June 16, 2014 – Radiation Therapy Services at Central Massachusetts Cancer Center, a 21st Century Oncology affiliate, is pleased to announce that the cancer treatment center has earned accreditation from the American College of Radiology (ACR). This prestigious award represents the highest level of quality and patient safety.

To achieve ACR accreditation, facilities must undergo rigorous third party evaluations of the multiple areas of practice management and patient care. Accreditation is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards.

“Receiving this accreditation is an honor for this practice,” said Timothy Shafman, M.D., Board Certified Radiation Oncologist with Radiation Therapy Services at Central Massachusetts Cancer Center. “ACR accreditation is a coveted distinction that shows the high standard of care we provide to patients in our community.”

The ACR is the nation’s oldest and most widely accepted radiation oncology accrediting body with over 25 years of accreditation experience. The ACR accreditation program was created to recognize quality radiation oncology practices through accreditation.
